Step-by-step guide
Step 1: choose your plant well
Lavender is one of the most hybrided plants. So make sure you choose a natural mediterranean variety. If you are beginner with lavender and can’t have cuttings, try out our organic reproducible lavender seeds in spring. You will be able to take cuttings from your new plant as soon as next summer.
Step 2: take cuttings from new flushes
After the flowering time, like now in november, take cuttings from new flushes. Use a sharp knife or secator. Prepare a pot with multi-purpose soil. You can use rooting hormons ito boost rooting process if you want to, but this is not an obligation. Keep the 7 to 10 best cuttings.
Step 3: identify nodes and stems
Identify a node below which you will trim each cutting. Remove the leaves from the bottom of the stem. When your cuttings are left with a short stem and rosette of leaves, you can plant them in a pot and water generously. To keep humidity, you can cover with a recycled plastic bag, that you will remove from time to time.
Step 4: check the new baby plants
After a few weeks (3 to 6), you will notice the small cuttings have now grown into small plants, identical to the parent plant. Remove plastic bag. Repot or plant them directly in spring.
